The new Global CSP Laboratory – the UK Centre for Concentrating Solar Thermal Manufacturing was opened at Cranfield University on Wednesday 26 March 2014.

The laboratory is housed within the Precision Engineering Institute, and is sponsored by UK company Global CSP.  The laboratory will be the home of an internationally recognised research and manufacturing team led by Dr Chris Sansom, working on Concentrating Solar Power (CSP) and Solar Thermal (ST) technologies and their applications.

The University is home to the largest CSP research activity in the UK and Cranfield is the only UK representative on the EERA (European Energy Research Alliance) Joint Committee on CSP.

Following the official launch and networking lunch, guests were invited to partake in laboratory tours which included the Precision Engineering Institute, High Temperature Coatings and Energy Technology laboratories.
